The best way to get around Paris is on foot (to take in the sights!) or by metro. The Paris metro is very efficient, and we prefer taking it over grabbing an Uber when getting around. A few details about the metro:
- It runs between 5am-1230am (does NOT run 1230am-5am)
- Tickets can be purchased at the ticket booth or the kiosk in the station one at a time, as a 10-pack (discounted), or as day passes. Tickets are 1.9 euros ($2.16, may fluctuate based on exchange rate) each.
- When you use your tickets, stick it in the turnstyle slot and remember to take it when it's returned.
- You can rely on your trusted Google Maps to give you best routes
If you want to venture further away from the city (i.e. Versailles) or take public transit to the airport, you can take the RER train. You can use your metro ticket on these too if you ride on the RER within Paris. You'll need a separate RER ticket if you're taking it out of the city.
